Mersey Gateway Project Agreement

Unfortunately, several governments have refused to fund a new untaminated intersection and have gone further because they would not allow the Mersey Gateway project without the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge being affected. The government`s position was that they were either toll bridges or a new bridge. It was agreed that the new bridge was an absolute necessity for Halton`s future, which is why the Halton Borough Council Labour race continued with the Mersey Gateway Project. The Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee Bridge are fenced off at Halton Borough Council and are not part of the Liverpool City Area Agreement. The Mersey Gateway project includes the rehabilitation and renovation of the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge, which, upon reopening, is returning to its original goal of being the local runcorn – the Widnes Bridge, connected to the local Widnes and Runcorn road networks. Traffic flow has been maintained by appropriate regulations and diversions on the basis of transport models. To maximize safety, a 40 km/h speed limit has been introduced, as well as activists crossing separate pavements and sidewalks for pedestrians. Access by local businesses has been a priority throughout the project to minimize the impact on trade, and our subcontractors have been involved as soon as possible by meet the buyer events for local SMEs. In addition to the project agreement with Merseylink, the Commission has entered into an agreement on participation in demand management (DMPA) with emovis, which is responsible for the implementation of the end-to-end toll and the application of unpaid tolls. To accomplish this task, emovis has developed the software and systems needed for a road that will handle about 20m of vehicles per year, they have a call center, an accessible center and project management facilities, all located in Manor Park, Runcorn. Both bridges are in my riding of Halton and there is a long history on what led to the current toll situation, I have been involved in the border situation for many years. Halton consists of two cities, Runcorn and Widnes, which are divided by the Mersey.

For decades, people have been congested in their city when they used the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge, which opened in 1961. As traffic increased, it became clear that a new bridge was needed. Unfortunately, several governments have rejected cases for a new intolerant crossroads and have gone further because they would not allow a new toll crossing without the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge being affected. In June 2010, the project was put on hold and was awaiting the outcome of the Department of Finance`s expenditure review. In October 2010, Chancellor George Osborne confirmed that the $431 million plan would continue. [8] As part of the 2014 budget, Osborne announced a $270 million guarantee for the project.

[9] Ramboll played an important role in the Mersey Gateway project, a central feature of the major highway improvement between the M56 and speke Road. It is a new six-lane, cable-covered bridge on the mouth of the Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes. State aid was announced in 2011, with the Merseylink Consortium being announced as a preferred bidder in June 2013. The financial completion was reached in early 2014 and construction began in April of this year. The bridge was opened to the public in October 2017, just 3.5 years after construction began.
